People sometimes ask what the name "TOUCHER" has to do with Creating Websites. Actually I play lawn bowls and when I was starting out I decided to use "Toucher" as it is a lawn bowls term used when referring to a bowl that has touched the jack.

It also clearly illustrates my prime objective in website design, which is to create websites that "reach out and touch" your prospective client base.

 

 

THE GREENHORN DAYS
Toucher Web Design was first created in 2001 when I got started in freelance website website creation testimonialsdesign after a long career in Electronic Engineering and IT. My first website was created for a Computerized Maintenance Management business venture with which I was involved a few years ago.

Having an engineering and computing background I had decided that I could probably create the site that was required for this business myself.

I read a bit, bought the required software and quickly got to work creating the website. It turned out fine and soon after it was launched it started to attract significant traffic and generate business. Then disaster struck! Because of an unwitting mistake I had made, the site disappeared from Google's rankings overnight along with 75% of my business.

 

Website Creation - Getting the Knowledge

I realised then that I had to study not only Website Creation and Design but Website Promotion and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in a more organised and formal way. I did this for a couple of years as time permitted and during this period created a few sites for people who had requested them.

Generally these sites became quite successful and I was satisfied that I had developed significant web design and SEO knowledge. At this point I decided to make the move into the freelance web design business.

GROWTH
Since then the business has gone from strength to strength. Our websites continue to do well because of the SEO techniques we use, which are best demonstrated by the fact that you found this site and are reading this now. This is significant as we are in competition with all the other other web designers for this high position. However we have also realised that this business is extremely complex.

It is very difficult for any single person to become expert in graphic design, marketing, website creation, SEO, ecommerce, communication, database design, etc. To this end I have forged alliances with other freelance designers and creators with different specialties and together we can provide all of these skills.
