Website Copyright Issues

Our Text, Content and Image Copyright Policy

image copyrightAt Toucher Web Design I take website copyright seriously and it is worth pointing out that this this cuts both ways.

I use Copyscape to check for violations of our text copyright and unfortunately I have had to take action against other web design companies on several occasions when they were found to be using my content. I will continue to do this as long as I have a presence on the web.

So far I have had trouble with companies in the UK, USA, Pakistan and China who all copied my content.

You will have noticed that this site contains lots of valuable information about the web design process. This makes the content attractive to lazy web designers who cannot be bothered or do not have the knowledge to write their own.

As I said, this situation cuts both ways. When designing websites I need to source lots of material. This includes text, which is sometimes provided by the client and sometime researched and written by myself. Icons, graphics, pictures and other visual content are also required and no busy, freelance web designer can provide all of this information without help.

I pay to use several stock image websites to source some of my visual material. The cost of this will be included in your quote unless otherwise discussed.

This material is normally licensed only for use on your website. You may not use it on other materials such as stationery, mugs, t-shirts or other promotional material without purchasing an extended licence. Normally this is not expensive so if you are in any doubt about your entitlement with regard to an image you should contact me before using it.

In conclusion, I strive to remain fully compliant with international copyright law on all of my work but occasionally there may be some doubt about who holds a copyright. I have used thousands of images from different sources over the years. We try to maintain an audit trail on all of them but inevitably some of them may slip through the net.

In the unlikely event that you find material that infringes your copyright on any of my work please contact me. If this does happen I can assure you that it will have been done unintentionally and it will be removed immediately.
